MailChimp Content Style Guide
Overview
MailChimp's Content Style Guide is a publicly documented writing system used by MailChimp's content, product, and marketing teams. It is one of the most widely referenced content design style guides in the industry — widely cited because it applies cross-system writing principles to product copy, marketing, and UX writing at scale.
Unlike most design systems in this KB, MailChimp's guide focuses exclusively on content: voice, tone, grammar, mechanics, and accessible writing. It does not cover visual design, color, or component patterns. That makes it a primary reference for content design decisions rather than visual design system decisions.
When to reference this system: when establishing a voice and tone guide for a new product, auditing UI copy for consistency, or defining writing mechanics rules.
